Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander has singled out Lebohang Maboe for praise, labelling the Amakhosi star as one of the standout signings of the current 2025/26 season.
Maboe became a Glamour Boy in August 2025, which was a homecoming to the club he played for as a dreamy development youngster. However, the Heidelberg-born star faced an early injury setback in his Chiefs career, before his long-awaited debut in October 2025 in a 3-1 victory over AS Simba in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Since then, Maboe has quickly established himself as a vital cog for Amakhosi in a deep-lying ‘number six’ role. He has already secured four Man of the Match accolades and was particularly influential during a sequence where he claimed three consecutive awards against Durban City FC, Magesi FC, and Orbit College FCโpropelling Chiefs to a five-match winning streak.
Across all competitions, he has already made 18 appearances and become a regular in the starting line-up.
COLE ALEXANDERS SAYS LEBOHANG MABOE IS A COMPLETE FOOTBALLER

According to former Chiefs number six Alexander, Maboe has always been a fabulous player, dating back to his days with Maritzburg United [renamed Durban City FC].
โHe has always been one of my favourite players, him together with Teboho Mokoena,โ Alexander told FARPost.
โFor me, he is a complete player. Iโve been watching him. He is so calm. He did even prove himself at Mamelodi Sundowns. Then at Maritzburg United [renamed Durban City], he was top.
โMaybe at Chiefs he has been helped by playing for a big team like Sundowns before coming to Naturena. So maybe he knows better how to deal with the mental side. In any case, when youโre top, youโre top.
โHe made his mark at Sundowns and won titles. He has been an excellent signing for Chiefs. People talk about the signings of the season, that guyโs name should be mentioned for Chiefs,โ Alexander concluded.
