Miguel downplays Chiefs’ five-game winning streak: ‘It’s not enough yet’

Despite the positive mood in Kaizer Chiefs’ camp, Inacio Miguel was quick to downplay the club’s five-game winning streak, reminding his teammates of the expectations that come with donning the Gold and Black jersey.

Chiefs are currently enjoying a scintillating run of form, having secured five consecutive wins in the Betway Premiership. This winning streak has significantly bolstered their hopes of finishing in the top three.

The straight five victories were registered against Durban City FC [1-0], Magesi FC [2-0], Orbit College FC [3-1], TS Galaxy [2-0], and Magesi [4-1]. This winning run has bolstered the Soweto giants’ ambitions of securing CAF inter-club competition qualification for next season.

Currently, Chiefs are placed third on the Betway Premiership log standings, having collected 45 points from 23 outings.

‘WINNING MUST BE A HABIT’ – INACIO MIGUEL

Miguel insists that the club’s current five-game winning streak should be viewed as a standard requirement rather than a special achievement for the Soweto giants.

“In the past, our main problem was finding the consistency to establish momentum. It’s not about winning one or two games, it’s about putting in a run of four, five games, and I think we are now on the right road,” said Miguel.

“However, it’s not enough yet. Being at a big club like Kaizer Chiefs, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see a run like this; it should be expected, so we aim to make winning a habit.”

INACIO MIGUEL ON RECOVERING FROM INJURY

Miguel’s return to the starting line-up has been a good boost for the Glamour Boys. The defender stated that he endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines, which is a rare experience in his professional career.

“I’m happy to be fit again. It’s the first time in my career that I have missed so many games. It has been a bit difficult this season. Playing in CAF as well as PSL, there hasn’t been much time between games to recover. This has been a lesson to me. I must look at ways to avoid this situation going forward,” he added.

Chiefs’ next league assignment will be against Polokwane City FC on Saturday, 18 April. This showdown will take place at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The kick-off is scheduled for 17:30.
