Kruger United have surged to a five-point lead at the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship following a dominant 3-0 win over Midlands Wanderers on Saturday, while Black Leopards stunned Casric Stars.

The Mpumalanga-based side has established itself as the hot favourites to win the league in the second division and gain automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership next season.

Kruger have been in an impressive run of form after winning three successive league matches in the Motsepe Foundation. They beat Lerumo Lions FC, Highbury FC, and Midlands Wanderers in their last three encounters.

After collecting maximum points against Midlands this past weekend, Kruger tightened their grip at the top of the league table with 49 points after 14 wins, seven draws, and four defeats in 25 matches.

Kruger United are five points ahead of Cape Town City FC, Milford FC, and Hungry Lions FC, who are making up the top four on the log standings.

Elsewhere, Black Leopards gave their relegation survival a massive boost after claiming a shock 2-0 win against Casric Stars on Friday. Lidoda Duvha are in the relegation fight alongside their fellow Limpopo rivals Baroka FC, as they are occupying 15th and 16th place respectively. Leopards have collected 24 points in 25 games, having won five league games, drawn nine, and suffered defeats 11 times.
