Magesi FC head coach Allan Freese is refusing to get carried away despite his side taking a good step toward Betway Premiership survival on Sunday evening.
Dikwena Tsa Meetse produced their best performance of the season as they hammered Durban City FC 5-2 in an entertaining encounter at the Seshego Stadium just outside Polokwane.
The five-goal haul was a perfect response to their disappointing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs just four days prior.
The victory moved the Limpopo-based outfit to 14th position on the log with 20 points after 25 matches, successfully leapfrogging Marumo Gallants and Orbit College FC in the process.
Speaking after the seven-goal thriller, Freese admitted that while the margin of victory was pleasing, the three points were the only priority heading into the fixture.
‘I DON’T WANT TO GET AHEAD OF MYSELF’: ALLAN FREESE

Freese struck a cautious tone after Magesi moved clear of the relegation zone, insisting he won’t get ahead of himself with so much work still ahead. “The results were very good. Whether we would have won by 1-0, 2-0, or any kind of win, we would have taken it,” Freese told the media.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself. We still have other games to play. But we are going to sleep peacefully today [Sunday night]. It was our aim [to overtake two teams at the bottom]. Today’s [Sunday] plan was to move away from the last position on the log, and we achieved that.
“I’m happy for the boys as they have scored more than one goal. I’m very happy because we have been struggling in front of goal for a little while.”
ALLAN FREESE ON CHANGING THE MINDSET
With five games remaining in the season, the Magesi mentor believes the psychological boost of Sunday’s win will be just as important as the points themselves.
“Now, the mindset must change to say we can also win; that one is very important. We proved it today [Sunday] that we can win,” he added.
