Kaizer Chiefs right-back Reeve Frosler has reflected on his injury layoff, revealing how he found a positive in the setback.

Frosler made his return to competitive action in Chiefs’ 4-1 thrashing of Magesi FC in the Betway Premiership at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium last Wednesday.

The highly-rated defender came on as a second-half substitute to replace Thabiso Monyane, who has been the preferred choice at right-back since signing with the club from rivals Orlando Pirates in July 2025.

After coming on in the second stanza, Frosler provided two assists, proving his qualities not only in defence but also in attack. The former SA junior international assisted Mduduzi Shabalala and Khanyisa Mayo to score their goals, while Flavio Silva and Wandile Duba netted the other two goals in the first half.

Frosler could prove an important figure in the coming weeks for Amakhosi as they look to tighten the grip on the third spot to qualify for the CAF inter-club competitions. Before returning to action with an impressive performance against Magesi, Frosler last featured for Chiefs on the 22nd of October 2025, in a stalemate against Siwelele FC.

In the current campaign, the former Bidvest Wits star made seven appearances across all competitions as he battled persistent injuries that limited his chances of regular game time.

The 28-year-old has opened up on the injury nightmare, stating that he found a silver lining in the ordeal after welcoming a new baby with his wife.

“Being out injured is no fun for any player, and I’m no different,” Frosler said. “It was difficult from that point of view, but the setback turned out to be good timing because my wife and I were expecting our second-born, and being at home, I could help her around the house. It was a great feeling to get back on the field again, though.”

Frosler further spoke about his contribution in an emphatic win against Magesi.

“It is always nice to make a contribution. The good first-half performance of the team made it easy for me to come in. We were two goals up already and playing on the front foot,” he added with self-effacing modesty.
