Baroka FC relegated to ABC Motsepe League

Baroka FC relegated to the ABC Motsepe League

Ex-Betway Premiership side Baroka FC have been relegated to the ABC Motsepe League after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat against Kruger United on Sunday afternoon.

The Limpopo-based side has been on a dismal run of form in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, struggling to sustain a consistent winning run. Baroka endured a daunting task of fighting to survive relegation. However, they failed to climb out of the relegation zone. The Tlisane Moutang-coached team is sitting 16th on the log after winning 4 games, drawing 7, and suffering 16 defeats in 27 matches.

Bakgakga have collected 19 points, and with three matches remaining before the end of the season, they have lost a chance of reaching the 14th position to survive relegation.

As it stands, Baroka are 11 points behind 14th-placedย  Midlands Wanderers, who accumulated 31 points in 26 games, and they can only gain nine points should they win all their remaining matches. Baroka are following in the footsteps of former Premiership clubs such as Cape Town Spurs, Jomo Cosmos, and Santos in the amateur ranks.

KRUGER UNITED CLOSE TO SEALING PROMOTION

On the other hand, Kruger continued their fine form as they are inching closer to automatic promotion to the SAโ€™s top-flight next season. The Mpumalanga outfit is on a four-match winning streak after victories over Highbury FC, Midlands Wanderers, Cape Town City FC, and Baroka.

Kruger United are five points ahead of second-placed Milford FC, who have collected 47 points in 27 games. Meanwhile, Hungry Lions FC are third on the log with the same number of points.
