Sekhukhune United interim coach Paulus Masehe has answered the question of whether he would be keen to take over the position at the club on a permanent basis.
Masehe was recently appointed on an interim basis until further notice following the departure of head coach Eric Tinkler. Sekhukhune and former Bafana Bafana midfielder Tinkler parted ways last week after a string of poor results.
Masehe has so far taken charge in two Betway Premiership matches. He lost 3-1 away to Stellenbosch FC and played to a 1-1 draw against struggling Marumo Gallants at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
As a result of the Gallants’ stalemate, Sekhukhune are now fifth in the league with 39 points from 26 matches. They are seven points below a CAF Confederation Cup spot, which is currently held by Kaizer Chiefs.
The club has always made its ambitions of returning to CAF football clear. But as it stands, they will now have to hope that both Chiefs and fourth-placed AmaZulu FC drop points in their remaining fixtures.

WOULD PAULUS MASEHE BE INTERESTED IN TAKING OVER AT SEKHUKHUNE UNITED PERMANENTLY?
Speaking after the match against Gallants, Masehe said his focus was not on the job but on taking things one game at a time. However, he admitted that he would grab the opportunity with both hands if it presented itself.
“The role is a bit of a challenge because if you take a team at this time of the season, you are taking over with certain habits that might take a bit longer to come out,” he said when asked by FARPost.
“But to be honest, it’s an opportunity that I am taking one game at a time. I am not looking way far ahead. At the end of the day, it wasn’t something that was in my ambitions. I had given myself a bit of time to learn. But if it comes, I would grab it with both hands and make the best of it.”
