Mangaung Unite have officially secured their spot in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs after being crowned the Free State overall champions over the weekend.
The Bloemfontein-based side solidified their dominance with a 3-1 victory over Tower United at Tokkie Park [CUT Stadium] on Friday afternoon. The result was a good showing of a stellar campaign for Mangaung Unite, who finished the season with an impressive 73 points from 30 matches.
The club is no stranger to this stage of the competition. Their last appearance in the national playoffs was during the 2023/24 season in the Northern Cape.
This triumph marks the sixth time in the club’s history that they have claimed the provincial title.
As a result, Mangaung Unite will now represent the Free State province in the upcoming National Playoffs due to take place in June. SAFA will announce the province that will host the playoffs in due course.
Mangaung Unite are the second team to qualify for national playoffs after FC Ravens of the Eastern Cape who secured their spot last week.
