Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Khama Billiat continues to make a remarkable rise in the 2026 Premier Soccer League season, currently keeping pace in the Golden Boot race in Zimbabwe.

Billiat, who is on the books of defending champions Scottland FC, a team that also has Knowledge Musona, has picked up his game and is commanding a first-team place under the tutelage of Norman Mapeza. This follows a forgettable 2025 season where he was below par and starved of game time.

On Sunday, Billiat was on target for the Harare side as they suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Simba Bhora FC at Rufaro Stadium. Billiat has scored six goals in ten matches. Scottland came into the clash on the back of a big win over rivals MWOS FC in the league.

However, they were stunned after crumbling in the second half, losing 2-1 at home. Billiat struck first, setting the tempo of the match after six minutes. But they crumbled like a deck of cards through goals scored by Namibian striker McCartney Tevin Naweseb and Harrison Masina.

In doing so, the former Chiefs star netted his sixth league goal of the season, leaving him second in the Golden Boot race behind Herentals’ Ralph Kawondera, who has seven goals in ten matches.

BILLIAT’S SCOTTLAND SIT ON FOURTH POSITION IN ZIMBABWE’S PSL

Scottland FC is sitting pretty in fourth place with 17 points, having picked up four wins, five draws, and one defeat in ten matches. Meanwhile, the 35-year-old, who last featured for the Zimbabwe Warriors in October 2025 under Michael Nees, could return for upcoming assignments under interim coach Kaitano Tembo.

Billiat, former Orlando Pirates star Marshall Munetsi, and Italy-based Jordan Zemura did not feature under Marian Marinica, who resigned last month.

The trio โ€“ Billiat, Munetsi, and Zemura โ€“ will likely be included in the Zimbabwe Warriors squad to participate in the inaugural 2026 Unity Cup, a four-nation tournament being held in London at The Valley, in the United Kingdom, from May 26 to 30, 2026.

Zimbabwe will face Nigeria in the opening semi-final on May 26, with Jamaica and India playing in the other semi-final.
