Orbit College FC head coach Pogiso Makhoye has detailed what the club needs to do to survive the chop and maintain their elite league status.

The Betway Premiership newcomers boosted their survival chances with a 2-1 win over fellow relegation side Magesi FC at the Seshego Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Orbit currently occupy 14th place with three games to go. They hold a slim two-point cushion over bottom-placed Magesi FC and sit just one point ahead of Marumo Gallants, who have 22.

However, they will not have it easy in their last three matches as they face AmaZulu FC, who are gunning for a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup. They will also face a Stellenbosch FC side that is in contention for a spot in the MTN8.

Their last match will be against league chasers Orlando Pirates, who have not lost a match in their past 10 matches.

Makhoye revealed that he gave his players a stark ultimatum before the Magesi FC clash: this week would either seal their relegation or secure their survival.

“Unfortunately for us, we have conceded a lot of goals, and the goal difference is against us,” he said.

POGISO MAKHOYE OPTIMISTIC OF SURVIVING AFTER CRUCIAL WIN AGAINST FELLOW RELEGATION CANDIDATES

“It means from the last three games, if we get a win and a draw, I think we will survive. So that is why I am saying the game against AmaZulu FC is the most important game, because on Sunday, we will know where we are.

“This is going to be a big week for us. I even told the players this morning to say this week is going to be a big week for us. It’s either we are getting relegated this week, or we live another day to survive,” added Makhoye.

“… Against Magesi, we performed and got the three points. So let’s see again on Saturday [versus AmaZulu FC], if we win, as it will be a big one for us.”
