Galaxy, Chippa, Orbit and Amazulu share spoils in PSL draws

TS Galaxy vs Chippa United at Mbombela Stadium

TS Galaxy and Chippa United shared spoils in a 1-1 draw, while Orbit College FC and AmaZulu FC, as well as Golden Arrows and Polokwane City FC, settled for goalless draws in Saturday’s Betway Premiership matches.

At Mbombela Stadium, Galaxy and Chippa squared off in an entertaining match. While it was end-to-end action, Chippa were the first to hit the target via Azola Matrose, who scored in the 40th minute.

The ex-Orlando Pirates winger showed his special talent. However, Victor Letsoalo restored parity for The Rockets in the 47th minute from a penalty, as they began to dictate the tempo of the season.

That was followed by a series of chances that Letsoalo and Seluleko Mahlambi missed, with the goalkeeper at their mercy up until the hour mark. In the end, they drew 1-1, with Galaxy sitting in 12th place with 28 points while The Chilli Boys follow with 25 points.

ORBIT COLLEGE, AMAZULU FC SETTLE FOR A DRAW

At Olympia Park, Orbit College FC and AmaZulu FC also settled for a 0-0 draw. Siyabulela Mabele was the shining star for Orbit College FC in the first half as he was winning free kicks at key moments, but they failed to use their chances.

On the other hand, Bayanda Thabede and Minenhle Ngcobo got key chances for Usuthu, but they failed to convert the chances. Orbit College FC are in 14th position with 24 points, while AmaZulu FC are in fourth position with 44 points.

At the Dr Molemela Stadium, the home side, Marumo Gallants, was under pressure from the onset, and their defence was jittery. The visitors, Richards Bay FC, looked determined to get an early goal, and they deservedly surged ahead after five minutes as their pressure forced Gallants’ Marvin Sikhosana to make a costly error that resulted in an own goal.

Richards Bay went to the half-time break leading by a narrow margin. But Gallants restored parity on the hour mark via Bheki Mabuza to mark his third goal of the season.

However, they managed to hang on and they remained deadlocked at half-time. They settled for a goalless draw, with Polokwane City remaining in sixth place with 39 points while Arrows are eighth on the table with 37 points on their tally.
