Magesi FC head coach Allan Freese has had his say on how Dikwena Tsa Meetse plans to approach their final three league matches in their quest to avoid relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The Limpopo-based outfit is currently facing the barrel of relegation. With only three matches remaining in the 2025/26 campaign, there is no room for error.

As the league reaches its fever pitch, Magesi find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table. They are currently 16th, having collected only 21 points from 27 matches.

With nine points left to play for, the pressure is mounting to leapfrog their closest rivals, Orbit College FC [23 points] and Marumo Gallants [22 points], to secure another season in the top flight.

The Limpopo club is set to face Betway Premiership title chasers Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 9 May, at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium; Siwelele FC away from home on Saturday, 16 May; and, lastly, Richards Bay FC at Seshego Stadium on Saturday, 23 May.

In addition, Magesi recently lost 2-1 to Orbit College in their Betway Premiership midweek fixture at Seshego Stadium, just outside Polokwane.

‘PLAYERS MUST ALSO FIGHT’: ALLAN FREESE

Speaking on the club’s mindset heading into the final three fixtures, Freese was candid about the fact that tactical preparations can only go so far—the rest depends on the hunger of the squad.

“Well, it has become a do-or-die situation. Sometimes, certain things are left to the players; they must also fight. I can’t fight all alone,” said Freese.

The veteran mentor emphasised that the time for experimentation or complacency is over.

“So, it has become a do-or-die game in every match we play right now. There are three games left. Can we take chances with these three games? No. In every game, we must fight now.”
