CHIEFS ANNOUNCE THE APPOINTMENT OF NEW CEO BHEKI SHONGWE

“Kaizer Chiefs are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Bheki Shongwe as the new Group Chief Executive Officer of the Club, effective May 2026,” said the club

“Mr Shongwe is no stranger to the Kaizer Chiefs family. He has been serving as a non-executive director on the current Board of Directors while successfully managing his own businesses. Prior to this, he held the position of Managing Director of the Club between 2009 and 2012. His extensive knowledge of the organisation and its operations makes him well-suited to lead us into the future.

“In his new role, Mr Shongwe will oversee the day-to-day running of the Club, reporting directly to the Chairman and the Board, while working closely with the heads of departments. Importantly, he will also be assisting Chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung with the overall running of the organisation, ensuring that the Club continues to thrive both on and off the field.

“We welcome Mr Shongwe back to the Amakhosi fold and wish him every success in his new role, and look forward to his leadership as we continue to build on our proud legacy of 56 years.”

KAIZER CHIEFS GEAR UP FOR AMAZULU AFTER SEALING CAF CONFEDERATION CUP QUALIFICATION

Meanwhile, Amakhosi are gearing up for their penultimate Betway Premiership fixture of the season against AmaZulu FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban this Saturday afternoon. This follows a successful outing where Chiefs secured qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup by defeating Sekhukhune United in their most recent league encounter.

The victory created a decisive gap at the top of the table; fourth-placed AmaZulu now trail Chiefs by seven points, meaning Usuthu cannot overtake the Glamour Boys even if they win their remaining two fixtures.

While AmaZulu can only reach a maximum of 50 points, Chiefs have already moved onto 51, guaranteeing them a top-three finish with two matches to spare. Furthermore, surpassing the 50-point mark ensures Amakhosi’s return to the MTN8—a competition they notably failed to qualify for over the past two seasons.

And despite having already secured a return to CAF football, Chiefs will be eager to avoid complacency as they look to bag maximum points in their final two league encounters against AmaZulu FC and Chippa United.
