Cape Town City FC and Milford FC booked their spots in the PSL Promotional/Relegation playoffs on a dramatic final day of the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
CT City and Milford finished second and third on the log standings respectively, edging out tight competition from Casric Stars and Hungry Lions FC in the top-three chase. The two sides will now await the final day of the Betway Premiership to discover which 15th-placed top-flight team they will face in the playoffs.
The Citizens booked their spot in the PSL promotional playoffs after defeating Leicesterford City FC 4-2 at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday afternoon. However, the clash was not without drama, as controversial refereeing stole the spotlight in a match that reportedly featured four penalty decisions.
CT City missed out on automatic promotion to the top-flight after Kruger United clinched the league title following an impressive run in the 2025/26 season.
The Mpumalanga-based side lifted the NFD trophy on Sunday afternoon in front of their home fans after playing to a 2-2 draw against The Bees at KaNyamazane Stadium, finishing at the summit with 62 points from 30 games.

On the other hand, CT City are occupying the second spot with 54 points in 30 games. The Cape Town-based outfit is gunning for a return to the Premiership after suffering relegation last season.
Elsewhere, Milford FC joined Cape Town City in the playoffs after playing to a goalless draw with Hungry Lions FC, who were also looking to finish in the top three.
After a draw against Northern Cape side Hungry Lions, Milford finished third on the league table with 54 pointsโlevel with Cape Town City, who possess a superior goal difference. Fourth-placed Casric Stars missed out by just two points after ending the season on 52. They reached the playoffs last season but ultimately fell short.
