They open their campaign against Mexico on June 11, a rematch of the 2010 World Cup, when the two sides clashed on a similar date at FNB Stadium, with South Africa as the tournament hosts. Hugo Broos and his men will be bidding to qualify for the World Cup knockouts for the first time in their history.

The Belgian is expected to name his squad for the World Cup in the next few days as anticipation for his selection builds up. They go into the Nicaragua match having already played back-to-back international friendlies against another Central American opponent, Panama, in March.
