Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom has officially parted ways with Vietnamese club Nam Dinh FC after a frustrating spell that saw him fail to make a single competitive appearance.

Nam Dinh confirmed Blom’s departure this week in an Instagram post announcing several departures from the club. The South African is one of four players released by the club, with five games remaining in the season. The V-League outfit is sixth with 31 points, 29 adrift of the log leaders, CAHN.

Alongside Blom, they have announced the exits of Brazilian goalkeeper Caíque, English forward Kyle Hudlin and Mota.

“Thanks for the contributions of Mota, Caique, Blom and Kyle Hudlin during the past. Wish you success on the road ahead,” the club wrote on Instagram.

The exit marks the end of a difficult chapter for the Amakhosi development graduate, who joined the Vietnamese outfit in July 2025 after leaving St. Louis City SC.

WHY NJABULO BLOM WAS DEREGISTERED IN JANUARY

However, Blom endured an injury-plagued stay in Vietnam from the outset. The 26-year-old sustained an injury shortly after joining the club and later underwent surgery abroad, with his recovery timeline remaining unclear throughout the season.

In January, Nam Dinh deregistered Blom for the rest of the 2025/26 V.League 1 season due to his prolonged absence. According to Vietnamese outlet Thethao 24/7, the midfielder was removed from the club’s foreign-player quota, effectively ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.

The development was also reflected on Transfermarkt, which indicated that Blom would be ineligible to play in V.League 1 until 30 June 2026, when the season officially concludes.

Blom’s deregistration opened the door for French-born DR Congo international Arnaud Lusamba to be registered. Lusamba joined Nam Dinh in October 2025 but was initially unable to be included in the squad because the club had already filled its foreign-player slots, which were occupied by Blom and fellow South African Percy Tau.

As things stand, Blom leaves Nam Dinh without making his official debut. On the other hand, his countryman, Tau, has featured in nine league games, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

The 32-year-old made a further seven appearances in the ASEAN Club Championship, providing two assists. He moved to the Southeast Asian nation in August 2025 after leaving Qatar SC.

The league concludes in June and resumes in August or September, and Tau will hope to continue next season.
