Former Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila is set to join Motsepe Foundation Championship side Lerumo Lions FC, FARPost has established.
Mammila has been with the Chilli Boys, serving the Gqeberha-based outfit in various capacities, including as sporting director, head coach, and assistant coach.
The club had previously released a statement in October 2025 indicating that the administrator-turned-coach had left the side alongside technical team members Luc Eymael and Sly Mosala. However, in an interview with this publication in November 2025, Mammila clarified that he was still under contract with Chippa, and he was asked to work from home. His last role at the club was that of the sporting director.
“I was asked by the club if I can work from home until the contract ends on 30 June 2026. So I accepted that with both hands,” Mammila told FARPost at the time.
“I have been in professional football for so many years. So I think this is a good break for me. It’s time for me to be with my family. You can see that the PSL this season is on another level.
“It’s also good that it’s time for me to learn, to see if there are teams that have improved or are building from nothing. Especially looking at Manqoba [Mngqithi], what he is doing there [at Golden Arrows]. I think I am learning a lot in terms of what he is doing there.”

WHAT ROLE WILL MORGAN MAMMILA PLAY AT LERUMO LIONS?
This publication can reveal that the former Baroka FC mentor will be returning to football administration. Mammila is set to join the North West-based side as their new Chief Operating Officer [COO] ahead of the upcoming season.
The Sibongile Marokana-owned side recently concluded its first-ever campaign in the professional ranks. Lerumo secured PSL status in the South African second tier prior to the start of the 2025/26 term by purchasing the Pretoria Callies franchise.
Before the acquisition of the Motsepe Foundation Championship status, the club competed in the SAFA North West ABC Motsepe League.
Lerumo finished the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign in eighth position after collecting 39 points from their 30 league outings.
