AmaZulu end season on a high, as Magesi live to fight another day

AmaZulu FC ended the 2025/26 season on a high with a KZN derby win, while Magesi FC beat Richards Bay FC to stay in the fight for Betway Premiership survival in matches played on Saturday afternoon.

At Chatsworth Stadium, the KZN derby between Durban City and AmaZulu was lively. Sphamandla Zikhali and Thabo Nodada had good chances for Durban City, while Taariq Fielies and Riaan Hanamub threatened for AmaZulu FC in the first half.

Usuthu broke the deadlock on the 80th minute through Nkosikhona Radebe, who scored with a header from a cross whipped in by Mondli Mbanjwa. The win saw AmaZulu finish the season on 47 points in fourth place. Durban City ended eighth with 38 points.

At the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium, Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy were locked in a tight contest and could not be separated at half-time. For Arrows, Isaac Cisse and Siyanda Ndlovu caused problems for TS Galaxy throughout the match.The game ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Arrows finished sixth with 41 points, while TS Galaxy ended 12th with 32 points.

MAGESI FC LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY AFTER LAST-DAY WIN

At Seshego Stadium, Magesi FC were desperate for a win at home against Richards Bay FC to avoid relegation. They came out firing, with Diteboho Mofokeng and Mcedi Vandala creating chances but failing to hit the target.

The sides were deadlocked at half-time. Magesi finally broke through in the 47th minute via a penalty, which Mcedi Vandala converted with a powerful shot into the bottom corner.

The win means Magesi avoided automatic relegation and will compete in the promotion/relegation playoffs. They finished 15th with 24 points from 30 matches. Richards Bay FC sit 11th with 34 points.

At the Dr Molemela Stadium, Marumo Gallants were on the back foot against Stellenbosch FC, with Langelihle Phili and Ashley Cupido causing problems. The match ended 0-0, leaving Gallants 14th with 25 points. Stellies ended the season ninth with 37 points.

SIWELE FC, SEKHUKHUNE UNITED FC IN FOUR-GOAL THRILLER

At the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Siwelele FC wanted to end their 2025/26 Betway Premiership season on a high. They made a blistering start against Sekhukhune United, scoring twice in three minutes.

Gamphani Lungu opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a header from a Neo Rapoo cross. Three minutes later, Sphesihle Jeza doubled Siwelele’s lead with a powerful shot from a tight angle, assisted by Yandisa Mfolozi.

Sekhukhune pulled one back in the 55th minute through Tshepo Mokoane, who finished from close range following an assist by Bright Ndlovu. Ndlovu turned scorer in the 90th minute with a powerful close-range strike to force a 2-2 draw. Sekhukhune United secured fifth place finish with 44 points, while Siwelele FC finished tenth with 37 points.
