Orbit College FC coach Pogiso Makhonye has expressed pride in his team’s fighting spirit despite their relegation from the Betway Premiership being confirmed following a 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Mswenko Boys’ battle against the drop came to a final-day conclusion at a packed Mbombela Stadium. The loss sealed Orbit College’s return to the lower tier, while the maximum points secured a historic domestic treble and a first league title in 14 years for Abdeslam Ouaddou’s Buccaneers.
Despite the disappointment of relegation, Makhonye remained defiant, choosing to praise the tactical discipline his young squad displayed against the newly crowned champions.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Makhonye explained his satisfaction with how his players handled the immense pressure of the occasion, refusing to simply roll over for the Soweto giants.
