Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has revealed that more than 5,000 Mamelodi Sundowns supporters have travelled to Morocco ahead of the second leg of the CAF Champions League final.
Sundowns head into the decisive clash holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, putting them within touching distance of a second continental crown.
FARPost ravelled with several Sundowns supporters to Rabat, where excitement has continued to build ahead of the blockbuster encounter.

Speaking in Morocco during the team’s final training session ahead of the final at the Stade Moulay Abdallah, Lesufi said plans had already been put in place with South African officials to ensure supporters are protected during their stay. Kick-off is at 21H00 South African time at the Stade Prince Moulay, which also hosted the controversial 2025 AFCON final. The hosts have confirmed that the match is sold out.
‘A SECOND STAR IS LOADING’: PANYAZA LESUFI
“They’re looking good [the players], exciting as well. They’re bringing more than 5000 supporters. We’ve spoken to the Ambassador around this area to say let’s do the necessary protocols, give them support, give them protection and make sure nothing happens so that it can be an exciting football match,” said Lesufi.
“There will be tears tomorrow, it’s just that I’m not sure if it’ll be tears of happiness or the other kind of tears. But what I know is that a second star must load, and it must load here in Morocco.”
The Premier also warned Sundowns against becoming complacent despite carrying a first-leg lead into the final showdown.
‘FORGET THE 1-0 LEAD’ – LESUFI WARNS SUNDOWNS AHEAD OF CAFCL FINAL
“My view is that they must forget about that 1-0 advantage. The task must be done here. The only thing they need to do is to avoid losing, and then the star will be there, the second star will be there,” he added.
“If they put their minds to it, that they’re leading and they’re putting their minds to it, that it was half time, and now it’s another 90 minutes, I think they may miss a very good opportunity.”
Lesufi believes the Pretoria giants have learned from previous disappointments on the continent and are now better equipped to finish the job away from home. Last season, they suffered heartbreak when they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Egyptian side Pyramids. They had played a 1-1 draw at home.
“But I think they’ve learned from their previous mishaps, and they may see the mere fact that AS FAR has not scored at home as an opportunity. But forget that, concentrate on this one, the task must be done here, and if they do that task here, they’ll be African champions.”
