Cedric Kaze confirms talks with PSL club after Chiefs exit

Former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has dropped a major hint on his future, confirming that there are talks with a PSL side over a coaching job.

Kaze parted ways with Amakhosi last week alongside his co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef after the duo spent two seasons at the club.

Ben Youssef and Kaze left Chiefs after the expiry of their contracts as the Glamour Boys opted against offering them contract extensions.

The two coaches left Chiefs at the back of helping the club seal a top three spot on the Betway Premiership table to qualify for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

They helped Chiefs achieve their best finish of the log, having failed to qualify for the top eight in the last two seasons, although it was not enough to keep them at Naturena beyond the 2025/26 season.

Kaze and Ben Youssef initially arrived at the Soweto giants as the two assistant coaches to head coach Nasreddine Nabi at the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

After the sacking of Nabi in September 2025, the duo was given the coaching job on an interim basis to see out the season.

During their stint as co-coaches, Kaze and Ben Youssef had an inconsistent run, which left fans questioning their pedigree to lead a team of Kaizer Chiefs calibre.

At some point in the last season, Kaze and Ben Youssef had supporters staging a march against them, calling for their immediate sacking.

Following the axing at Chiefs, the Burundian tactician has revealed that he’s currently in talks with a PSL club for the possibility of taking over in the upcoming season.

“There are some talks that are happening, and if it goes well, I’ll gladly take the job because I believe that I know the platform, the league, and the players. I’m pretty sure that I can be helpful,” Kaze said on MSW with Robert Marawa.

Pressed on which team he’s having talks with, Kaze disclosed that it’s a team within the top 10 in the Premiership. “Let’s say it’s a team in the top 10.”
