Chippa United have secured the future of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sammy Seabi, exercising the option on his contract after a standout 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign, FARPost has learned.
Seabi has rediscovered his best form at Chippa following a challenging past few seasons as he struggled to find a stable home.
The ex-Bafana Bafana international joined the Chilli Boys in July 2025 on a free transfer after having an unsuccessful second stint with Polokwane City FC.
But after arriving at Chippa, Seabi produced solid performances in the middle of the park as the club managed to avoid relegation and retain its status in the top-flight for the 2026/27 season.
Seabi made 24 appearances across all competitions for Chippa and scored one goal despite the technical department’s inconsistency, with six coaching changes in the just-ended campaign.

The experienced anchorman initially joined Chippa on a one-year deal with an option to renew for a further year. With Chippa preparing for the upcoming season, they have secured Seabi’s future, who is expected to play a key role in the team next season.
Seabi is one of the most experienced figures in the Chippa squad, having played for several teams, including Polokwane City, Mamelodi Sundowns, Sekhukhune United, and Moroka Swallows.
The Limpopo-born midfielder will be looking to help Chippa finish in a respectable position on the league table after surviving relegation on the last day of the 2025/26 season.
Meanwhile, Chippa are under new leadership after appointing Brandon Truter as the head coach before the last game of the campaign. The former Richards Bay FC coach has recently revealed that he would stay with Chippa United in the next season in a bid to bring much-needed stability to the team.
