Siwelele FC have secured the future of Bafana Bafana right-back Nyiko Mobbie after the club triggered the option on his contract to keep him at the club for another season, FARPost has learnt.
Mobbie’s existing contract at Siwelele was set to expire on the 30th of June 2026 before the club moved swiftly to lock him down ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The Bloemfontein-based side has been one of the active clubs, making changes to their squad with the aim of improving from their performances in the previous season, which saw them miss out on a top-eight finish.
Siwelele are entering their second season in the South African top-flight after acquiring the premier status of SuperSport United ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and successfully relocating the franchise to Bloemfontein.
In their debut season in the Betway Premiership, the Free State outfit endured a turbulent run under the guidance of head coach Lehlohonolo Seema, consistently struggling to string together positive results.
The club ultimately finished 10th in the league standings, collecting 37 points from their 30 matches with a record of eight wins, 13 draws, and nine defeats.
Having narrowly missed out on a top-eight finish and a coveted MTN8 spot, the Bloemfontein-based side has launched its pre-season preparations early. Management is expected to oversee an extensive squad overhaul, with several high-profile arrivals and exits anticipated in the coming weeks.
THREE SENIOR PLAYERS ARE HEADING TO THE EXIT DOOR AT SIWELELE FC

Names such as Lyle Lakay, Pogiso Sanoka, and Kgaogelo Sekgota will be heading to the exit door when their contracts expire later this month.
On the other hand, Siwelele have tied down highly rated midfielder Grant Margeman by exercising an option on his contract for another season.
In another decisive move on their key players, the club is keeping former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mobbie to build a competitive side for the next campaign.
The 31-year-old made 18 appearances across all competitions for Siwelele this past season, having successfully returned to action in late 2025 following a long-term injury layoff.
As a result, Mobbie also lost his position in Hugo Broos’ Bafana squad, missing the two major tournaments, the 2025 AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in less than 10 days.
