South African winger Luther Singh has opened up about his decision to commit his long-term future to Cypriot First Division side AEL Limassol.

The Stars of Africa Academy graduate, who moved to Cyprus in July 2024 following a stint with Serbian outfit FK Čukarički, recently solidified his stay at the club. Singh signed a contract extension last August, tying him down to Limassol until May 2027.

The 28-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, establishing himself as a key figure for Limassol. He featured in 31 matches across all competitions, netting nine goals and chipping in with seven assists.

Despite enjoying a productive season in Cyprus, Singh was a notable omission when Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos named his preliminary and final squads for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off later this month in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

However, at club level, the talented attacker is settled and determined to repay the faith shown in him by the Limassol management.

WHY LUTHER SINGH SIGNED A NEW DEAL AT AEL LIMASSOL

Speaking exclusively to FARPost, Singh revealed that the decision to sign a new deal was motivated by gratitude and the immense support he received from the club during a challenging phase in his career.

“I feel like last season, we had an okay season, and I was playing; however, I was not happy with what I had done. So, from the first day that I arrived here, the club has treated me well. They have shown me love,” Singh told FARPost.

“The club has made me feel like it’s a place where they appreciate me, and I’m in a place where they want me to be. So, when they proposed a new contract for me, I didn’t even think twice because I knew that when I was in a difficult period, this was the club that was willing to give me an opportunity.

“I will forever be grateful to them and the man above [God] because he’s the one who makes things happen for me. When they approached me about contract renewal, I just felt that everything was right. Now, I look forward to the new season because I believe that if we keep working hard, we can do something good as a team.”

The former Paços de Ferreira and Chaves winger added that his strong bond with the club made the negotiation process straightforward.

“Honestly, it was an easy decision for me to make, and there wasn’t much to think about because I wanted to do more for the club since they gave me a chance when I was at my lowest. So, this is what made me want to stay here,” he concluded.
