Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of Mthetheleli Mthiyane, Sibangani Zulu, Bohlale Ngwato, and Ghampani Lungu for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.

The Buccaneers confirmed the arrival of new players on Tuesday morning, sending a clear message of intent to their rivals for the upcoming campaign.

Pirates are fresh from ending their 14-year league trophy drought after clinching the title on the last day of the just-ended season with a 2-0 victory over Orbit College FC at Mbombela Stadium.

The Soweto giants dethroned Mamelodi Sundowns from their ruthless dominance in the league, with the Tshwane giants having won the title for the past eight seasons in a row.

In the same season, Pirates also won the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup, making it a treble in Abdeslam Ouaddou’s first campaign in charge of the club.

With the transfer window only opening next month, Pirates have moved swiftly to sign Lungu, Mthiyane, Zulu, and Ngwato to beef up their already star-studded squad.

Recently crowned Betway Premiership Champions, Orlando Pirates are delighted to announce new arrivals to the club,” the Houghton-based side said in a statement

“After weeks of speculation and countless headlines across the football social media landscape, Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm the signings of Mthetheleli Mthiyane [Stellenbosch FC], Sbangani Zulu ([Richards Bay FC], as well as Bohale Ngwato and Ghampani Lungu [both from Siwelele FC].

“The arrival of Mthiyane sees defender Thabiso Lebitso moving in the opposite direction to join the Maroons as part of a swap deal.”
