Makaab reveals potential destinations for outgoing Arrows coach Mngqithi

Manqoba Mngqithi in his spell at Golden Arrows

Prominent Prosport International agent Mike Makaab has confirmed Manqoba Mngqithi’s impending exit from Golden Arrows, while also revealing the next potential destinations for the experienced tactician.

FARPost has been reliably informed by agent Makaab that Mngqithi is on his way out of Arrows, with both parties set to part ways when his contract expires at the end of the month.

The highly-rated tactician leaves the KZN-based outfit after steering them to a top-eight finish in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign. Mngqithi spent a season and a half at the helm of Abafana Bes’thende after taking over the hot seat in March 2025.

This was the former Chippa United mentor’s third stint with Arrows, following a highly successful decade-long tenure at Mamelodi Sundowns, where he served as assistant coach, co-coach, and head coach.

After departing Masandawana, Mngqithi quickly transformed Arrows into one of the most competitive units in the top-flight.

Last season, he guided the Durban side to a sixth-place finish on the log, accumulating 41 points from 30 matches courtesy of 11 wins, eight draws, and 11 defeats.

Despite his contribution as the Arrows coach, Mike Makaab has told FARPost that Mngqithi is leaving the 2009 MTN8 champions when his contract expires at the end of June 2026.

“Coach Manqoba is indeed leaving Golden Arrows; his contract is coming to an end,” the agent said in an interview with FARPost. “I can tell you that the decision is amicable. We are grateful to the chairlady [Mato Madlala], as you know that she has a very great relationship with coach Manqoba.”

Speaking on the possible next move for Mngqithi, Makaab revealed that they are in talks with several clubs outside South Africa.

“We are looking at several options even outside South Africa, but you know that for coach Manqoba, it has to be the right project at an ambitious club. So we will sit down with the coach, look at all the options, and then we’ll take it from there.”
