Motsepe Foundation Championship side The Bees FC have moved swiftly to fill their vacant head coaching post, roping in the experienced Duncan Lechesa as their new mentor following the departure of Joel Masutha, FARPost can confirm.

The club’s hierarchy decided to secure the services of the well-travelled tactician as they begin steering preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 PSL campaign.

As previously reported by this publication, Masutha has left his post at The Bees to take up an assistant coaching role at the newly promoted Betway Premiership outfit, Kruger United. Masutha will serve under head coach Abram Mongoya, who successfully guided the Mpumalanga-based side to the second-tier title and automatic promotion to the elite league last season.

Masutha leaves The Bees having accomplished his primary mandate. He arrived at the club in February earlier this year with the objective of saving the side from the relegation zone.

Under his guidance, the team finished the campaign in a respectable 10th position after accumulating 35 points from 30 outings.

THE BEES FC SECURE THE SERVICES OF COACH DUNCAN LECHESA

Hoping to build on that mid-table finish, The Bees have turned to Lechesa to spearhead their next chapter.

Lechesa moves to The Bees from Black Leopards, where he endured a difficult end to the previous campaign. He served as a co-coach alongside Sundra Govinder at Lidoda Duvha, who unfortunately suffered relegation to the SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League after finishing 15th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings with just 28 points from 30 games.

Despite the recent setback with Leopards, Lechesa boasts extensive experience in South African football circles. His extensive coaching CV includes stints at Marumo Gallants, Venda FC, Polokwane City FC, Free State Stars, Mthatha Bucks, Roses United, Garankuwa United, FC Cape Town, Sivutsa Stars, and Carara Kicks FC.

The Bees will look to leverage Lechesa’s profound knowledge of the lower tier as they aim to establish themselves and try to fight for promotion to the Betway Premiership in the upcoming season.
