Marumo Gallants have announced the arrival of Phuti Mohafe as their new head coach for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
As previously reported by FARPost, Mohafe is joining Gallants from Polokwane City FC, where is spend the past few seasons and established the club as a regular feature in the top eight on the league table.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have wasted no time in appointing a new coach following the dramatic exit of Jamil Benouahi, who arrived at the club in the second round of the season but only sat on the bench for one match.
Before turning to Benouahi, Gallants had Alexandre Lafitte at the helm, who parted ways with the club due to struggles with finding a consistent winning form.
Lafitte took over the coaching job at the start of the previous campaign with high expectations, having won the league title with the Ivorian side Stade d’Abidjan in the 2024/25 campaign.
With Gallants aiming to recover from the inconsistency in their coaching department that saw them change coaches three times in one season, they snapped up Mohafe from Rise and Shine.
The Limpopo-born coach will have a tough job of turning Gallants into one of the competitive sides after marginally surviving relegation last season. They finished 14th on the league table with 25 points after registering only four wins, 13 draws, and 13 defeats in 30 matches.
With preparations for the upcoming season underway, Marumo Gallants confirmed the appointment of Phuti Mohafe on Sunday afternoon to begin the pre-season with the club in the next few days.
