Cape Town City FC will not be retaining the experienced trio of Miguel Timm, Njabulo Ngcobo and Sifiso Ngobeni for the 2026/27 season, FARPost has learnt.
The three players were part of the Citizens squad last season as the club turned to seasoned campaigners in their bid to get promoted to the Betway Premiership. But the three struggled to make an impact with CT City missing out on reclaiming their top-flight status.
The club from the Mother City finished second in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, with Kruger United beating them to the automatic promotion ticket. Even another avenue to secure a Betway Premiership ticket via the PSL Promotional/Relegation play-offs was not enough for them.
That saw coach Jan Vreman being fired after just a season at the club. The decision on the Dutchman is part of the major changes the club is undertaking, which also include a sweep-out of some senior players to bring in fresh blood ahead of next season.
THE WRITING WAS ALWAYS ON THE WALL FOR TIMM, NGCOBO & NGOBENI

It was always clear at the tail end of the season that Timm, Ngcobo, and Ngobeni no longer have their future at CT City. The trio had limited involvement in the play-offs, a crucial campaign in which experienced players would be needed to carry the team.
Former Orlando Pirates central midfielder Timm joined City mid-season, but his acquisition did not count for much. When it mattered the most in the play-offs, the 34-year-old featured in just one match, away at eventual champions Milford FC, while being an unused substitute in the other three.
Former PSL Defender of the Season Ngcobo managed just five minutes of action in the play-offs. Since joining the Citizens as a free agent in August 2025, the 32-year-old struggled to replicate the form that saw him being signed by Kaizer Chiefs in July 2021.
Left-back Ngobeni, previously a Mamelodi Sundowns player, made two cameo appearances from the bench during the play-offs, to cap a difficult season for him. It was always difficult for the club to continue with the trio following their struggles.
KEAGAN DOLLY FACES AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE AT CAPE TOWN CITY
FARPost has been told that “there are 50-50 chances” of Keagan Dolly staying or leaving the club. There have been talks between the club and the attacker for a contract renewal.
Dolly’s experience also did not show to help CT City gain promotion to the top-flight league, although he enjoyed some regular football.
