Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko is set for a fresh chapter outside South African borders after putting pen to paper with Lesotho Premier League side Lifofane FC.
The 36-year-old heads to Lesotho from SAFA Free State ABC Motsepe League side Mangaung Unite. Moleko was part of the Mangaung squad that recently competed in the 2025/26 Motsepe League National Playoffs held in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, earlier this month.
He played a pivotal role in guiding Mangaung Unite to the Free State ABC Motsepe League provincial title. As a result, it earned them a spot in the national promotional playoffs.
Lifofane, who enjoy a strong competitive footprint in the Lesotho top-flight, will look to utilise Moleko’s extensive experience to mount a serious title charge. Last season, the club finished as runners-up in the Lesotho elite league. They collected 60 points from 30 matches—narrowly missing out on the championship by just five points behind winners Lijabatho FC.
LIFOFANE FC’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON KGOTSO MOLEKO ACQUISITION

The Lesotho-based club officially confirmed the acquisition of the experienced defender on Tuesday, 23 June, expressing their excitement at bringing a player of his calibre into their ranks.
“We are thrilled to announce the signing of South African international, former Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC defender, Kgotso Moleko. Let’s welcome him to the Ibhanoyi family,” the club announced in an official statement.

Moleko’s move marks a return to professional structures. The veteran right-back last featured in the professional ranks during the 2022/23 season. At that time, he was turning out for Maritzburg United [now rebranded as Durban City FC].
Before ultimately settling for a move to the ABC Motsepe League, he had an unsuccessful trial with Marumo Gallants in July 2024. After failing to impress the technical team, the club opted against offering him a contract. This is despite the veteran right-back boasting an impressive resume in SA football. He has over 120 appearances in the Betway Premiership.
Furthermore, apart from his nine-year spell with the Soweto giants, Chiefs, Moleko has also turned out for the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic. His top-flight know-how is expected to be a major boost for Lifofane.
