Durban City FC midfielder Luphumlo ‘Kaka’ Sifumba is attracting interest from Europe, with Albanian top-flight side Skënderbeu among the clubs tracking the 20-year-old.
Information reaching FARPost is that the Korçë-based outfit is one of two European clubs monitoring the midfielder’s situation, with discussions still in their early stages.
Sifumba joined Durban City on a permanent deal from Cape Town City FC at the start of last season and has continued to draw attention from abroad.
The talented midfielder previously spent six months with Portuguese side FC Vizela, where he gained valuable European experience. Vizela were keen to make the move permanent, but the deal ultimately failed to materialise.
Following his stint in Portugal, Sifumba also spent time training with three-time Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana.
However, the move did not materialise, as Cape Town City FC was reluctant to sanction his departure. The failed transfer left the South Africa youth international pushing for an exit from the Mother City outfit.
SKËNDERBEU REGISTER KAKA SIFUMBA INTEREST
Skënderbeu have now emerged as the latest European club to register an interest in his services. The Albanian club boasts a strong track record of developing players and facilitating moves to bigger leagues across Europe.
Having won multiple league titles and competed regularly in UEFA competitions, Skënderbeu remain one of Albania’s most recognisable football institutions.
A move to the Balkan nation could provide Sifumba with another route into European football. The club became the first Albanian side to reach the group stages of a major UEFA competition and continues to market itself as a stepping stone for ambitious young players seeking opportunities elsewhere on the continent.
Before joining Durban City, Sifumba had been seeking regular first-team football after finding opportunities limited. After signing a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further year, he went on to feature 20 times for the KZN side. He provided two assists and scored one goal in the 2025/26 season.
The coming weeks could prove decisive as the Albanian side weighs up whether to formalise its pursuit of the young midfielder.
