Kaizer Chiefs have continued the overhaul of their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, with academy graduate Happy Mashiane becoming the latest player to face the axe.
The talented left-back is leaving Amakhosi after spending the previous campaign on loan with Siwelele FC following his struggles for regular game-time.
Chiefs announced the departure of Mashiane in what the club described as a mutual termination of the contract between both parties.
Mashiane followed George Matlou in the exit door, becoming the second first-team star to leave the Glamour Boys with a new era under Fernando Da Cruz looming.
Matlou has parted ways with Chiefs after the club opted against offering him a new deal. At the start of the last season, the central midfielder signed a new one-year deal that expires on the 30th of June 2026.
On the other hand, Mashiane is closing the Chiefs chapter, having spent seven seasons with the senior team at Naturena. The Tembisa-born defender got the first taste of first-team football in 2019 under the then-head coach Ernst Middendorp.
During his spell with Chiefs, Mashiane made over 60 appearances across all competitions, scored four goals, and chipped in with five assists.
CHIEFS TERMINATE HAPPY MASHIANE’S CONTRACT

In an official communication on Thursday, Chiefs confirmed the termination of Mashiane’s contract, thanking him for his contribution. “Kaizer Chiefs defender Happy Mashiane has left the club following the mutual termination of his contract,” the 2025 Nedbank Cup champions said on their website.
“The Tembisa-born player joined the Amakhosi development structures as a teenager before being promoted to the senior team at the start of 2019.
“Mashiane played a key role in the squad that reached the CAF Champions League final in Morocco in 2021. Primarily operating as a left-back, the 28-year-old has scored four goals for Chiefs.
“The former under-23 international also spent a spell on loan with Siwelele FC, gaining valuable experience during the 2025/26 season. We sincerely thank Happy for his valuable contribution to Amakhosi and wish him all the best.”
