Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng has opened up on his dream move to Europe after completing a transfer to Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
The Belgian Pro League outfit officially unveiled the acquisition of the 21-year-old playmaker on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
‘Rele’, as he is affectionately known within football circles, joins Saint-Gilloise from reigning Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates.
The attacker, also nicknamed ‘President Yama 2000’, has signed a four-year deal with the European side after successfully passing his medical examination and finalising personal terms.
RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG’S METEORIC RISE AT ORLANDO PIRATES
Mofokeng’s rise to stardom has been amazing. After earning a promotion from the Buccaneers’ DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] reserve team to the senior squad in May 2023, the youngster grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
He played an instrumental role in helping the Soweto giants clinch the league title for the first time in 14 years. His stellar domestic campaign saw him net 10 goals and provide eight assists in 27 league appearances.
To top it off, Mofokeng’s trophy cabinet is already overflowing. He boasts two consecutive Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season awards [2023/24 and 2024/25] and the 2024/25 MTN8 Last Man Standing title. In addition, he won the 2024/25 Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament accolade.

It is worth noting that Mofokeng could add more silverware to his personal accolades, as the Premier Soccer League [PSL] is set to announce the official nominees for the 2026 PSL Awards on Friday, 3 July 2026.
In the just-ended domestic campaign, the highly-rated attacker won the Betway Premiership Player of the Month award twice. He received the monthly accolade for his stellar performances during the January–February period, before claiming his second in consecutive months by winning the award for March.
