Newly promoted Betway Premiership side Kruger United have strengthened their defence with the signings of experienced centre-backs Kwanda Mngonyama and Katlego Mohamme.

FARPost can confirm that both players have agreed to join the Mpumalanga outfit as head coach Abram Mongoya continues to build a squad capable of competing in the South African top-flight.

The arrivals represent a major boost for Kruger United’s backline, with the duo bringing a wealth of Betway Premiership experience to a club determined to make an immediate impact in its maiden top-flight campaign.

Mngonyama joins after a spell with Bahraini side El Ettihad Club. The 32-year-old defender, who recently left Ettihad after spending eight months at the club, brings leadership, versatility and vast experience, having previously turned out for Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City FC, Maritzburg United and AmaZulu FC.

Mohamme, meanwhile, arrives from Sekhukhune United after spending the past season with Babina Noko. The defender initially joined Sekhukhune on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns before making the move permanent.

He has also enjoyed spells with the University of Pretoria and in Portugal, adding further experience and composure to Mongoya’s defensive options.

Mngonyama and Mohamme are the latest additions in what has been an ambitious recruitment drive by Kruger United following their promotion to the Betway Premiership. They won the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The Village Boys have also secured the signing of 23-year-old winger Mlungisi Zwane from Casric Stars on a two-year contract with an option to extend. Other new arrivals include Lindokuhle Mtshali, George Lata, Douglas Mapfumo, Sifundo Sibanyoni, Kgopotso Mkhonza, Ntsako Makhubela and Sipho Sibiya. Meanwhile, Vicky Mkhawane remains at the club for another season on loan from Kaizer Chiefs].
