Sekhukhune United have signed three more players, Oageng Phiri, Thabang Mahlangu and D’Angelo Kazeem, as new coach Cedric Kaze continues to refresh the squad left by his predecessor Eric Tinkler.

Winger Phiri has been signed from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Highbury FC, while left-back Kazeen was with Venda Academy. Amajita striker Mahlangu arrives from Siwelele FC after spending the second half og last season on loan at Orbit College FC.

The trio have been brought into a new project which has seen Nyiko Mobbie returning to the club, while  Gomolemo Khoto and Siyabonga Ndlozi have completed permanent transfers from Orlando Pirates following last season’s loan stint.

Right-back Tshepho Mashiloane has signed a new season-long loan deal from the Buccaneers after spending last season at Babina Noko. Wingers Ronaldo Maarman and Siphiwe Mahlangu have returned from Durban City, where they were on loan, and it is to be seen whether Kaze will keep them for the upcoming season.

This comes as the former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach embarked on a clearout which saw the likes of Thabang Monare, Rivaldo Coetzee, Bradley Grobler, Ryan Baartman, Katlego Mohamme and Sikhosonke Langa leaving. Former captain Linda Mntambo has retired.

Kaze has also refreshed his technical team, bringing in Papi Zothwane as his assistant and Nascent Nkhwashu as the goalkeeper coach. While retaining Paulus Masehe as his understudy, the Burundian got rid of assistant coach Marc van Heerden, goalkeeper trainer Andre Arendse and analyst Kyle Solomons.

Having worked in the Betway Premiership over the last two seasons, Kaze has been exposed to scouting the local environment, which has led to him signing three players whose names are not popular in the South African game.

“Sekhukhune United is pleased to announce the signings of Oageng Phiri, Thabang Mahlangu and D’Angelo Kazeem as the club prepares for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season. Phiri delivered credible performances for Highbury,” Sekhukhune announced in a statement on Wednesday.

“Mahlangu is an Under-20 international who was recently called up to the Under-23 Olympic qualifier camp held in Johannesburg, while Kazeem was ever-present at left back for Venda Academy.

“The three players join Babina Noko as the Club continues to strengthen its squad in preparation for the new campaign. The Club welcomes Oageng, Thabang and D’Angelo to Sekhukhune United and wishes them every success in our colours.”
