Lerumo Lions opt against Sabelo Radebe’s contract renewal

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Lerumo Lions FC have decided against renewing the contract of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sabelo Radebe ahead of the 2026/27 season, FARPost has learnt.

‘Bibo’, as he is popularly known within the football circles, signed for the North West-based club in December last year.

At the time of joining Lerumo, Radebe had been without a club since July 2025 following his departure from Chiefs. He was promoted to the Glamour Boys’ senior team in February 2021 and featured in 18 games across all competitions.

He was shown the door at Naturena after Amakhosi decided not to extend his stay at the club, with his contract expiring on 30 June 2025. This decision was influenced by Radebe’s unsuccessful loan spell at the KwaZulu-Natal outfit Richards Bay FC.

During his stint with the Natal Rich Boyz, Radebe only managed to make three appearances.

LERUMO LIONS FC LET GO OF SABELO RADEBE AFTER SIX MONTHS AT THE CLUB

FARPost has it on good authority that Radebe will not be part of Lerumo’s squad for the 2026/27 campaign, as the club did not extend his stay after his contract expired.

The 26-year-old central midfielder is now a free agent and can join any club of his choice for the new season.

The 2025/26 campaign was Lerumo’s debut in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, following their acquisition of Pretoria Callies’ status before the start of the last season.

Before buying the status in the South African second tier, Lerumo was competing in the SAFA North West ABC Motsepe League.

Last term, the Sibongile Marokana-owned side finished in seventh position on the National First Division [NFD] log standings with 42 points from 30 matches.

The club returned for their pre-season camp this week and aims to challenge for the automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership.
