Sly Mosala finds new club after leaving MamKhize’s Highlanders

Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala unveiled by Eswatini side Moneni Pirates FC

South African coach Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala has left Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s Mbabane Highlanders and has officially joined Eswatini Premier League side Moneni Pirates FC. Mbabane Highlanders AM confirmed Mosala’s exit from the club on Wednesday night following the expiration of his short-term contract.

The former Sekhukhune United assistant coach had joined Mbabane Highlanders AM for a second stint on 3 March 2026. During his brief tenure, ‘Sly’ guided the Mamkhize’s side to a fifth-place finish, amassing 46 points from 30 games.

Mosala has penned a two-year deal with Moneni Pirates, who finished just behind his former employers last season in seventh position, with 44 points from 30 outings. He replaced head coach, Chaka Chaka, who has since left the club.

MONENI PIRATES OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON SELAOTSE ‘SLY’ MOSALA’S APPOINTMENT

Moneni Pirates confirmed the South African’s arrival via an official club statement on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.

“Moneni Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Coach ‘Sly’ as the club’s new head coach on a two-year contract. Coach ‘Sly’ assumes responsibility for the first team with immediate effect as preparations continue for the upcoming season,” reads the club’s statement.

“Following a thorough and competitive recruitment process, the club identified coach ‘Sly’ as the ideal candidate to lead Moneni Pirates FC into a new chapter. His tactical expertise, leadership qualities, and football philosophy align with the Club’s vision of building a competitive, disciplined, and successful team.”

SELAOTSE ‘SLY’ MOSALA’S MANDATE AT MONENI PIRATES FC

The Buccaneers have made their expectations clear for the incoming South African coach. With the domestic campaign looming, the club’s hierarchy is looking to return to its glory days.

“His mandate will be to restore the Sea Robbers to competing at the highest level while establishing a sustainable winning culture that reflects the values and ambitions of Moneni Pirates FC,” the statement continued.
