FARPost has learnt that former Kaizer Chiefs winger Edmore Chirambadare is poised to exit Magesi FC, with a return to Zimbabwe’s top-flight with Chicken Inn FC on the cards.
Chirambadare has been on Magesi FC’s books since July 2024, when he joined from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda FC, where he had spent two years.
The 34-year-old’s contract expired on 30 June, and Magesi FC are yet to table a fresh offer ahead of their return to the second-tier league following their relegation from the Betway Premiership.
This publication understands that Chicken Inn FC — where Chirambadare shone in 2015 before joining Amakhosi — are considering a reunion with the left-footed winger, over a decade after their first flirtation. They have already reached out to the player.
EDMORE CHIRAMBADARE IN TALKS WITH CHICKEN INN FC
‘Spanner’, as Chirambadare is fondly known in Zimbabwe, helped Chicken Inn FC win their only Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title in 2015. He was lured by Chiefs in July 2016 after shining in the CAF Champions League. It was the same window that Divine Lunga, Mitchell Katsvairo and Elvis Chipezeze broke into the Betway Premiership.
Katsvairo and Chirambadare joined Chiefs, while Chipezeze and Lunga were signed by Baroka FC and Golden Arrows, respectively. Plausibly, Chirambadare won the Most Improved Player of the Season award at Chiefs for the 2016/17 campaign. He then left the Soweto giants in July 2018.
Chirambadare also played for Maccabi FC, Pretoria Callies FC and Real Kings FC before the latter’s status was sold to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM].
Prior to Magesi FC’s relegation, Chirambadare contributed crucial goals for the club. He scored in their 1-1 draw against Milford FC—a result that ultimately sealed Magesi’s fate and confirmed their exit from the Betway Premiership in the final PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoff tie.
Following the gruelling playoff mini-league, Milford reigned supreme to secure top-flight status, finishing first with seven points, two ahead of Magesi.
In Magesi colours, Chirambadare played 36 Betway Premiership matches, scoring 6 goals and providing three assists.
