Qobolwakhe Sibande could be set for a return to South African football after the left-back was spotted at Stellenbosch FC, FARPost can reveal.
Sibande only completed a move to Egyptian Premier League outfit Petrojet SC earlier this year, becoming just the second South African-born player in the league, alongside Fagrie Lakay.
However, his future in Egypt hangs in the balance, with Petrojet considering either a permanent transfer or a loan move as it assesses its options for the 2026/27 campaign.
The 26-year-old was settling well in the Egyptian Premier League, featuring in nine matches in the second half of the season. Six of his appearances came in the league, with three coming in the domestic cup competitions. His performances demonstrated his ability to adapt to the demands of Egyptian football.
His return to South Africa has opened the door to a possible reunion with the Maroons, who have welcomed him to their pre-season set-up while all parties assess the best way forward.

Stellies have undergone a significant squad reshuffle ahead of Gavin Hunt’s first full season at the helm. The Winelands outfit has trimmed its squad in preparation for the 2026/27 campaign.
The club has bid farewell to at least 14 players, recently confirming the departures of Oscarine Masuluke, experienced full-back Wayde Jooste and long-serving goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt.
At the back, central defenders Thabo Moloisane, Athenkosi Mcaba and Olisa Ndah have all moved on, while Dejean Ah Shene, Kazie Enyinnaya, Khomotjo Lekoloane, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Kobamelo Kodisang and Asekho Tiwani have departed following the conclusion of loan spells or permanent transfers. Kyle Jurgens has since moved to Durban City, while Omega Mdaka has joined AmaZulu FC.
Despite the exodus, Hunt has wasted little time rebuilding his squad. Stellenbosch have secured the signatures of Thabiso Lebitso from Orlando Pirates, George Matlou from Kaizer Chiefs and midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba on permanent deals. They have also bolstered their ranks by loaning in Terrence Mashego from Mamelodi Sundowns and completing the permanent signing of goalkeeper Nathan Garrow from New Zealand outfit Auckland City.
Sibande would provide experienced competition for Mashego at left-back. Mashego has reunited with Hunt after his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns, sanctioned a loan move. Sibande’s versatility, as he also plays on the wing, could come in handy for Hunt. In addition, he featured 42 times for Stellies before moving to TS Galaxy and already knows the club.
