Relebohile Mofokeng was the undisputed star of the 2025/26 PSL Awards, held on Monday, 27 July, as the former Orlando Pirates playmaker swept up an impressive three accolades.
Pirates dominated the 2025/26 PSL Awards ceremony, securing 10 awards on the night. This was a strong showing for the Buccaneers after their impressive season last term.
Leading the charge for the Sea Robbers was ‘Rele’, the night’s biggest winner. He was honoured as the Betway Premiership Footballer of the Season, the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, and also received the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season.
Pirates’ success extended to the coaching staff, with Abdeslam Ouaddou being named Betway Premiership Coach of the Season.
The Soweto giants continued to have a stellar night, with Cemran Dansin winning the Betway Premiership Goal of the Season award.
The Buccaneers’ defensive prowess was recognised as Lebone Seema secured the Betway Premiership Defender of the Season accolade, while Sipho Chaine was named Betway Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season for the second campaign in a row.
Midfield maestro Oswin Appollis took home the Betway Premiership Midfielder of the Season award, whereas Golden Arrows’ Junior Dion was named the Betway Premiership Top Goalscorer of the Season.
MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS WINNERS
The Motsepe Foundation Championship also saw recognition, with Lerumo Lions FC’s Ntuthuko Mlotshwa and Ronaldo Van Neel from Hungry Lions being named the joint top-scorers.
Cape Town City FC’s Emile Witbooi scooped the Motsepe Foundation Championship Players’ Player of the Season, while Gabriel Amato secured the Motsepe Foundation Championship Young Player of the Season.
On the other hand, Motsepe Foundation Championship Goalkeeper of the Season went to Mickey van Der Hart, also from Cape Town City.
In the cup competitions, Mbekezeli Mbokazi of Pirates at the time was recognised as the 2025/26 Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament. TS Galaxy’s Seluleko Mahlambi took home the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament accolade, and Darren Keet from Durban City FC was awarded the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.
Meanwhile, Pirates’ Tshepang Moremi clinched the MTN8 Last Man Standing award.
In the DStv Diski Challenge, Bennet Mokoena from Mamelodi Sundowns won both the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season and the DStv Diski Challenge Top Goalscorer awards.
To top it off, match officials were also celebrated, with Nandipha Menze named Assistant Referee of the Season and Eugene Mdluli receiving the Referee of the Season award. The prestigious PSL Chairman’s Award was presented to the late Jayden Adams, who played for Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana.
