Orlando Pirates star Oswin Appollis has addressed the rumours regarding a potential move to Europe, opening up about his future following an outstanding season with the Buccaneers.
Appollis joined Pirates ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season from Polokwane City FC after establishing himself as one of the standout performers in the PSL in the past few seasons.
The Soweto giants beat fierce competition from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and other clubs on the African continent to sign the highly-rated winger.
After opting for a move to Pirates, Appollis hit the ground running, instantly becoming one of the key figures of the Sea Robbers squad under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
The Cape Town-born winger played a major role in helping Pirates win a treble after lifting the MTN8, Carling Knockout Cup and Betway Premiership trophies last season.
Appollis featured in 43 appearances across all competitions, netted 12 goals and provided nine assists. As a result of his fine form at Pirates, the former SuperSport United man walked away with the 2025/26 Midfielder of the Season accolade in the 2026 PSL awards.
In addition, Appollis was also part of the Bafana Bafana squad that made history in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the first South African men’s senior national team to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Following Bafana Bafana’s World Cup campaign, reports emerged linking Oswin Appollis with a potential move to Europe during the current transfer window.
Fuelling further transfer speculation, the Pirates attacker was a notable absentee when the squad touched down at OR Tambo International Airport, where fans, government and SAFA officials gathered to welcome the team back.
Responding to a question from FARPost about the speculations, the 24-year- old said his focus is with Orlando Pirates, and he hasn’t been paying attention to what’s being said in the media.
“At the moment, I’m not focused on those kinds of things [transfer rumours]; my job is to play for Orlando Pirates, and I’m happy here,” Appollis said.
“So other things that have been in the media, I don’t take note of them. As I said, my job is to play for Pirates because I’m happy here,” he added.
