Kaizer Chiefs could return to Stellenbosch FC for a second signing this transfer window, with winger Faiz Abrahams emerging as their latest transfer target after agreeing a deal for Langelihle Phili.
FARPost understands that discussions between the two clubs have continued beyond Phili’s move, which remains subject to a medical early next week, as Amakhosi explore the possibility of landing another exciting young attacker ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.
Ashley Du Preez and Given Msimango have moved to Stellies as part of the Phili deal. Sources close to the negotiations have said that talks about Abrahams were already underway before Phili’s transfer was finalised, suggesting that Chiefs’ business with Stellenbosch may be far from over.
The 21-year-old winger is understood to have turned down an approach from Durban City. But Chiefs are now firmly in the race to secure his signature.
There is also the possibility of a swap deal being explored between the two clubs. Stellies are believed to be interested in Kaizer Chiefs DDC defender Gopolang Taunyana, who has been training with Gavin Hunt’s side. The youngster’s name has subsequently emerged in discussions as negotiations continue over a potential deal for Abrahams.

Abrahams is an exciting young attacking talent despite his limited senior appearances. Having progressed through Stellenbosch’s development structures, he has already shown glimpses of his potential at both club and international youth level.
The speedy attacker returned to the Cape Winelands earlier this year following a productive loan spell with Israeli second-tier outfit Hapoel Kfar Saba. During his time abroad, he scored three goals and provided three assists in 11 league matches before returning home in February.
Able to operate on either wing or through the middle, Abrahams’ versatility has attracted admirers. His pace, direct running and technical quality have seen many tip him for a breakthrough campaign should he secure regular first-team football.
The South Africa youth international has made seven Betway Premiership appearances for Stellenbosch’s senior side.
With Chiefs looking to add more pace and attacking depth under Fernando Da Cruz, Abrahams fits the profile of the young, high-potential players the Soweto giants have targeted in recent transfer windows.
While negotiations are ongoing and no agreement has yet been reached, all indications are that Chiefs’ business with Stellenbosch may not end with the signing of Phili.
