Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the arrival of Stellenbosch FC star Langelihle Phili, beefing up their squad for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
Phili has put pen to paper with the Soweto giants after he was spotted by FARPost landing at the OR Tambo International Airport on Sunday to complete his move to Chiefs.
The Glamour Boys finally landed their target after weeks of speculation about the future of one of the highly-anticipated wingers in South African football.
Phili becomes the fourth signing by Chiefs in the current transfer window as the club opted to take a cautious approach in forging ahead with the transfer activities.
The 21-year-old is joining names such as Renaldo Leaner, Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko and his former teammate at Stellenbosch, Thabo Moloisane.
Phili, alongside the other three signings are expected to play a major role at Chiefs under new coach Fernando Da Cruz, who is eager to bring back the glory days to the club.
The SA youth international made it on the radar of the Soweto giants following his impressive performances in the colours of Stellies, where he showcased his dribbling abilities, pace and eye for goal.
In his spell with Stellenbosch, Phili featured in 72 appearances across all competitions, netting 11 goals while chipping in with two assists.
After the 2026/27 season kicked off this past weekend, Chiefs have moved swiftly to bolster their squad with the signing of Phili. The Naturena-based side unveiled the attacker on Monday, expressing their excitement to eventually land their target.

“Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to announce the signing of exciting and highly sought-after young winger Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC,” Chiefs said on their website.
“The 21-year-old sensation arrives at Amakhosi after a standout campaign last season in which he finished as Stellenbosch’s top scorer, netting nine goals and bagging both the player-of-the-season and players’-player-of-the-season awards. His performances earned widespread recognition and underlined his reputation as one of the most promising attacking talents in South African football.
“Durban-born Phili has already accumulated valuable experience in his short career so far, having played 39 matches in the PSL and CAF Confederation Cup last season, demonstrating a level of consistency that was earmarked by the technical team as a major potential asset in meeting the demands of a marathon campaign that could see the Glamour Boys contesting more than 50 fixtures across domestic and continental competitions.
“His talent, work ethic and commitment have seen him become a key member of the national age-group structures. He was part of the team that lifted the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations trophy in Morocco last year and was recently called up to the national U-23 squad as they prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the winners will play in the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
