Given Msimango has opened up about his move from Kaizer Chiefs to Stellenbosch FC ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
Msimango moved to Stellies alongside Ashley Du Preez as part of a cash-plus-player swap deal that allowed Chiefs to acquire the services of Langelihle Phili.
The Glamour Boys snapped up the highly rated Phili, whom the club had been targeting for several months. The 21-year-old joins Chiefs under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz, who is looking to bring back the glory days to the Soweto giants.
To land Phili, Chiefs used Msimango and Du Preez to sweeten the deal with the Winelands-based side. On Tuesday, Stellenbosch officially announced the arrival of both players from Chiefs, strengthening Gavin Hunt’s squad for the new season that kicked off this past weekend.
Following the announcement, Msimango reflected on the move, expressing his excitement to join a club he described as ambitious.

The talented centre-back leaves Chiefs after spending three seasons at Naturena. He originally signed for the Soweto side ahead of the 2023/24 campaign as a marquee signing from TS Galaxy. Msimango departs after making 53 appearances across all competitions for Amakhosi.
“It feels great to be part of Stellenbosch FC,” Msimango said. “This is a great environment with good management, a fantastic coaching staff, and a team that wants to compete—all the key ingredients you need for success.
“Stellenbosch is an ambitious team that wants to win trophies. The team recently competed in the CAF Confederation Cup, and I want to compete at the highest level with the club to help us reach those heights again.
“I want to remain consistent with my performances and help the team as much as I can. I’m here to work hard, and I’ve already received messages of support from the fans, so I hope to make them happy this season.”
