Prosport International agent Mike Makaab has opened up on the future of goalkeeper Jody February at Mamelodi Sundowns for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The talented goalkeeper has faced challenging times on the sidelines at Sundowns due to injuries and tough competition, among other things.
February has struggled to break into the Sundowns starting line-up with Ronwen Williams holding the position between the sticks as the undisputed first choice.
Meanwhile, veteran shot stopper Denis Onyango has played the second fiddle behind Williams, leaving February and Reyaad Pieterse frozen out of the matchday squad.
February joined Sundowns in September 2019 from Ajax Cape Town, which is now known as Cape Town Spurs. The former SA junior international has struggled for playing minutes, managing only eight appearances across all competitions in Sundowns colours.
During his stay with Sundowns, February has gone on loan to teams such as Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu FC in a bid to accumulate regular playing time.
For the 2026/27 season, the 30-year-old will likely see his game time situation not improve after the return of Bafana Bafana goalie Ricardo Goss from his loan spell with Siwelele FC.

February’s agent, Mike Makaab, has told FARPost that they are currently looking at loan options for his client to search for game-time elsewhere.
“Look for Jody February; we are looking at loan opportunities for him to get game-time and get back to the best form that we all know,” Makaab told FARPost.
“At the moment, nothing is final in terms of February’s future at Mamelodi Sundowns, as I said we are still looking at options for a loan move.”
Meanwhile, the Brazilians kicked off their season with a thrilling 3-2 win against Polokwane City FC in the MTN8 quarter-finals at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Goss was on the bench, with February in the stands.
Sundowns were granted the extra week to prepare for the new season following the sad passing of midfielder Jayden Adams, which disturbed the club’s pre-season activities.
