Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has chosen to keep his thoughts to himself regarding the latest coaching developments surrounding Bafana Bafana, stating he holds his own strong views on the matter.
The South African Football Association [SAFA] National Executive Committee [NEC] on Saturday, 8 August, endorsed Pitso Mosimane to take over from Hugo Broos as the new national team head coach.
The ratification comes following a recommendation by the SAFA Technical Committee. FARPost has gathered that Mosimane beat both local and international contenders to top the shortlist.
However, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly tactician has not yet signed on the dotted line, as his representatives and SAFA continue finalising contract terms. He is expected to be officially unveiled to the media in the coming days.
PITSO MOSIMANE SET FOR SECOND BAFANA STINT
This marks Mosimane’s second spell at the helm of the senior men’s national team, having previously led South Africa between 2010 and 2012. He also served as an assistant to Brazilian coach Carlos Alberto Parreira during the 2010 FIFA World Cup on home soil.
The 62-year-old coach is expected to begin his tenure immediately ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers next month.

Asked following Stellenbosch’s Tueaday night league fixture against Polokwane City FC in Seshego whether finalising the coaching appointment would benefit South African football moving forward, Hunt declined to dive into the debate.
“I don’t want to comment about Bafana. Sorry, I’d rather stay out of that debate because I have my feelings,” Hunt told journalists before walking away.
Before Saturday’s SAFA announcement, the four-time Premiership-winning coach had already questioned the recruitment process, arguing that a national team coach should not have to apply for the position.
