AmaZulu FC striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has sent a message to Sihle Nduli asking for forgiveness following his brutal lunge into the Orlando Pirates midfielder during a midweek league tie in Durban.
Ngwenya grabbed headlines during Wednesdayโs Betway Premiership encounter after the horror challenge, which, however, appeared to have broken Nduliโs ankle early in the second half. The match at Kings Park Stadium ended 1-1 with Ngwenya grabbing Usuthuโs equaliser from the penalty spot.
It was Nduliโs first competitive match since returning from a long-term injury, ironically sustained in Durban in November 2025 during a league game against Golden Arrows FC. The Buccaneers central midfielder could be seen writhing in apparent pain on the turf after the dangerous challenge.ย
Pirates are yet to reveal the extent of Nduliโs injury or his expected timeline on the sidelines. Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou expressed hope that the setback is not serious as he awaits feedback from the club’s medical team.

โIโm sorry, my brother, for what happened. I did not do it intentionally. I hope you have a place in your heart to forgive me. Speedy recovery,โ Ngwenya wrote.

AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane has als commented on the incident. He has also expressed regret about what happened to the former Stellenbosch FC star.ย
โOn Nduli, I donโt like to see such things. I don’t want to see a player who is coming back from an injury with such talent and is out again injured. I wish him a speedy recovery,โ said Zwane on SuperSport TV.
โWe donโt even want to see our players getting injured. Thando could have done much better there. Iโm sorry to the player [Nduli]; hopefully he will recover very quickly.โ
