AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has explained why midfielder Siphesihle Maduna’s return to the club will be a game-changer for Usuthu in the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
Zwane opened up on Maduna after his side fought to a hard-earned 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates in a thrilling league encounter at Kings Park Stadium in Durban on Wednesday evening.
Maduna has completed his homecoming to KwaZulu-Natal after spending recent seasons in Gauteng with TS Galaxy, as FARPost first reported.
The 26-year-old central midfielder was among the standout performers for the Rockets, accumulating 55 appearances across two seasons. During his most prominent campaign there, he featured in 35 matches, scoring one goal and registering three assists.
The playmaker initially signed for TS Galaxy in July 2024 as a free agent following a short stint with Cape Town Spurs before their relegation. At Galaxy, Maduna played regularly, regained his best form, and ultimately convinced his boyhood club to re-sign him for a second spell.

With Maduna returning to familiar territory, Zwane has welcomed the signing, emphasising that his technical quality and tactical awareness will prove vital during the demands of the current campaign.
“Firstly, [he brings] quality that we lack a bit. Trust me, if Maduna was available and fit for the game [against Orlando Pirates], he was going to make the difference,” said Zwane, who clearly holds the midfielder in high regard.
“Especially in the middle with those turnovers, if Pule [Ekstein] was available, he was also going to make a difference. What I’m saying is that if I take out Mlondi Mbanjwa and I bring in Pule, then we have a balanced team.”
