Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane has vowed to challenge a SAFA Arbitration ruling that overturned a compensation payout previously awarded to him in a dispute with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side The Bees FC.
The dispute stems from Mlwane’s dismissal in November 2025, just 12 games into the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
Mlwane initially took the matter to the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber [PSL DRC]. On 13 April 2026, the PSL DRC chairperson, Advocate Mosupi Mashele, ruled in the coach’s favour, ordering the Mpumalanga-based outfit to pay out the remaining six months of his contract, totalling just over R191,000.
However, The Bees appealed the ruling to SAFA Arbitration, where Advocate Tayob Nazeer Aboobaker SC set aside the PSL DRC’s decision on Monday, 17 August 2026.
“The Bees Football Club is pleased to confirm that the case brought by our former coach, Mr Humphrey Mlwane, regarding alleged unfair dismissal has been dismissed in favour of the club by the Arbitrator Today, 17 August 2026,” reads a statement issued by the club this week.
HUMPHREY MLWANE NOT BACKING DOWN
Speaking exclusively to FARPost, Mlwane expressed his frustration with the arbitrator’s reasoning and declared his intention to take the legal battle further.
“As you may recall, we won the case the first time before the PSL DRC. However, they [The Bees] appealed to SAFA arbitration, which ruled in their favour,” Mlwane told FARPost.
“The arbitrator stated that his decision was influenced by the fact that there was no oral representation [Mlwane was not present to give his side of the story]. Remember, the first time the case was heard, I was in Eswatini; only documentation was presented, along with my lawyer.
“Now, the arbitrator claims that the person who made the ruling from the PSL DRC was not supposed to have ruled in our favour based on the reason that I was not there.
“But now, the thing that disturbs me is that he doesn’t want to take the case back to the PSL DRC so they can call me for oral representation. He insists that it would be unfair to The Bees to handle the same case twice, which implies that he thinks it is fair for me to lose the case.
“We are definitely going to challenge the matter. In terms of the way forward, we are looking at different options, even if we have to take the matter to a different court. We will issue a statement very soon because we still have time.”
