AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has issued an injury update on Darren Johnson, revealing when the goalkeeper is likely to be available for selection.
Johnson has missed action in the opening matches of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season after sustaining a long-term injury in the previous campaign.
The former Ajax Cape Town shot-stopper suffered a setback that kept him out of the team at AmaZulu after having a promising start to life in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
Johnson signed with Usuthu at the start of last season on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Chippa United.

Upon his arrival at AmaZulu, Johnson became one of the key players for the club. He featured in 21 matches across all competitions, conceded 17 goals and kept nine clean sheets. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old made the preliminary squad for Bafana Bafana several times under the then-head coach Hugo Broos.
With Johnson yet to taste competitive action this season, Zwane revealed that the goalie will likely make a full recovery in the next two months. The Usuthu coach was speaking after guiding his side to a narrow 1-0 victory over Polokwane City FC at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
“Darren will probably be available in the next two months and half, but he’s already jogging, which is really good. He hasn’t started kicking the ball, obviously; we don’t want to rush him,” Zwane told the media.
“If there’s one thing we’ve done right alongside, Posnett Omony [goalkeeper coach] is building the confidence of Olwethu [Mzimela]. So we are covered in that position [goalkeeping]; no need to be worried unless something happens with new injuries,” he concluded.
